starry wonders

The following dizzy doodads make us feel...
source
Stop those shivers by slipping a shawl over your shoulders, preferably one with oodles of fringe & flowers. Surely Frida Kahlo would be proud!
I couldn't part with the red shawl...
...but this incredible black one is for sale!
Frida's Favourite $14

It's something spectacular and far less scary when creepy crawlers come in jewellery form. The faux jade, lapis, and coral are a symphony of colour and the tiny pearls tweak our interest. Such a piece would make a splendid gift for the Scorpio in your life!
Scorpio Moon $10
This fanciful belt would fit a frolicking fairy, but you may fasten this fun-loving brooch wherever you choose.
Tinkerbell's Waist $5
A dainty bow and the creamiest of roses mingle in this darling brooch. We envision it being worn in the Edwardian style, just as our beloved cameos.
Rosy Delight $10
Our minds quickly wander to what Georgia O'Keeffe says of her large-scale flower paintings: "I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could no longer ignore its beauty." These words best express our feelings about this rare-sized brooch!

Georgia in Love $10
Since we profess our love for brooches on the regular, it's no surprise that we are in a dither over their tiny toddlers: scatter pins.

Our minds skedaddle to-and-fro at the striking ways to sprinkle them. Spruce up your outfits by pinning one to each side of a collar, placing them to mimic a row of buttons, or wearing them in cheerful clusters. We can safely say that these sweet jewels scatter sunshine upon any garment!
Oysters Fall in Love $10
The shoesies on Ginger Rogers' lapel makes us giddy because…
...we have similar ones for sale!
Fancy Footwork $10
If Alice was attending a swanky soiree in Wonderland, she would dizzily dance the night away with her dangly squiggle earrings swaying to the beat!
Whirligig Wonders $12

This lovable set of vintage Avon butterfly earrings make our hearts flutter. The interchangeable wings come in the most heavenly hues. We believe they would be a delightful gift for the darling little dolly in your life!
Flight of Colour $25
Our adoration for apples continues with these amusing ashtrays. Using them to serve olives at your next wine & cheese, housing tea lights to add quirk to the ambiance, or as a resting spot for precious rings and earrings would also work wondrously!
Them Apples $8
Dodo Bird salt and pepper shakers are definitely dizzy doodads, and even more intriguing is the fact that the Dodo Bird is one of the curious creatures inhabiting Wonderland!

All must have Prizes! $12

Today's post is a friendly reminder of our dizzy nature. As you twirl about in our pop-up shop, you'll spy our vastly various collection, something we like to call a "beautiful mess."

The unusual and forgotten hold a special place in our hearts. Rescuing mysterious pieces is our passion because we believe these starry wonders deserve a chance to shine on.

"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole
world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."-Roal Dahl

twinkle twinkle little bat

Peek-a-Boo! We've been busy & dizzy with finding treasures full of verve for our spring pop-ups!
dizzy alice has jewellery galore to drape over your darling selves...

And we have hats…because let's get real, what good is a tea party without a chic chapeau?

We are also in a terrific tizzy over our vintage formal dresses, so we indulged in a little dress-up session, all whilst devouring decadent deliciousness. Macaron always make the perfect accessory and after all,
"...it's very easy to take more than nothing" -The Mad Hatter
A little black dress is even a staple in a Wonderland-inspired closet. Classic is always welcome and not to mention how amazing accessories look against this dark hue!
Check out the shimmying potential of Alicia's flapper-inspired shoulders!

The Black Mamba $25; Shimmy Shake $45
Twinkle all the livelong day in these glittery numbers.
Moon River $16; Happy New Year, Alice $30

queen of hearts

The Queen of Hearts. She's not exactly the epitomy of love and romance.
In fact, we all know she's foul-tempered...
...strict....

...arrogant...
...quick to decree death sentences...
 ...mad as a hatter...
...a croquet-lovin', flamingo-swingin', head-strong woman who knows exactly what she wants...
...which is why we absitively-posolutely adore her!

Happy Valentine's Day darlings,
We love you! xoxo

begin at the beginning

Perhaps you are puzzled about our passion for Alice in Wonderland and its pertinence to our pop-up shop. If you are burning with curiosity as to why Alice is our lodestar and why the twinkling of the tea puts the sparkle in our eyes, please ponder this peculiarity no longer.

The uncommon nonsense, daydreamy motifs, tea party theme, and satire associated with the Alice books make this literary masterpiece our inspiration!

Of all the endearing characters wandering Wonderland, Alice is our alias because her personality is bursting with muchness:

"...loving and gentle: loving as a dog (I know no earthly love so pure and perfect), and gentle as a fawn: then courteous-courteous to all, high or low, grand or grotesque, King or Caterpillar...then trustful, ready to accept the wildest impossibilities with trust that only dreamers know; and lastly, curious--wildly curious, and with the eager enjoyment of Life that comes only in the happy hours of childhood, when all is new and fair, and when Sin and Sorrow are but names--empty words signifying nothing!" -Annotated Alice in Wonderland

Possibly now you can fathom why dear Alice is our muse. Our devotion stems from believing the world could use more Alice dispositions doing dizzy dances...

...which brings us to our dizzy designation. An obvious reason is our love for dizzy dancing. We admire those who dance to their own drumbeat in life and on the dance floor. Dizzy is the feeling Alice gets after her terrific tumble down the rabbit hole. Dizzy is inevitable when you twirl about in a flowing vintage dress; finally, dizzy would best describe our eclectic dizzy alice collection.

The beauty of imperfection is something we hold dear. The discombobulated tea party is pure magnificence in our eyes; adding an unexpected twist to something that is full of tradition and formalities excites us!

"Have some wine," the March Hare said in an encouraging tone.
Alice looked all around the table, but there was nothing on it but tea. "I don't see any wine," she remarked.
"There isn't any," said the March Hare.
"Then it wasn't very civil of you to offer it," said Alice angrily.
"It wasn't very civil of you to sit down without being invited," said the March Hare.

The "Mad Tea Party" intrigues us so we want, nay, yearn, to celebrate tea party style! Unforgettable is a tea party where Alicia arrived fashionably late, dressed as The White Rabbit. When I answered the door, she was wearing a waistcoat, spectacles and was appropriately concerned with her watch. "I'm late! I'm late!" she exclaimed as she entered, and resumed her position as "life of the party."

We sipped tea into the starry night, consumed captivating conversations, and played "musical hats" all the while.

Festivities leading up to my wedding day were also infused with tea party charm.

The celebrations wouldn't be the same without Alicia doing a dizzy dance and making Alice proud.

My Maid of Honour lovingly made glorious party favours for my bachelorette: teacups brimming with beautiful bonbons and a cute tea quote in tow.

So you see sweet friends, we are seriously smitten with all things Alice.

The book is irresistible so we read it over and over...and under and under.

Naturally, we have a special place in our hearts for all creations influenced by Carroll's pièce de résistance.

We are fascinated by the obscure film versions. The 1903 Alice in Wonderland is a haunting silent film. The silence is refreshing in a society where sensory overload is profuse. You can more adequately appreciate the alluring artful expression of acting and take delight in delving deeper into each character's being, without words that often direct us too directly.

Artists and musicians are constantly inspired by the work of Lewis Carroll. In 1969, the renowned Salvador Dali left his eccentric mark on this spectacular story. Us kindred spirits get a special satisfaction in spotting a skipping alice amongst the surrealism--such a sneaky yet splendid surprise that makes us smirk!
