dizzy days in dazzling dresses

It seems wherever us dizzy girls scamper, we stumble across reminders of our favourite magical place: Wonderland. We know this sounds preposterous, but listen to these extraordinary events: after a recent meeting at Mulberry Street Coffee House with our fellow pop-up ladies, Girls with Guns, we found ourselves dining at Jack and Lois. Rather than their "special of the day" scribbled on the chalkboard, it read, "we're all mad here", complete with a chalky Cheshire grin.

Next...during our most recent photo shoot, we came across a wondrous wall that would have, could have, SHOULD have been an illustration in Lewis Carroll's classic novel. It's moments like these, that make us dizzy girls feel...well...even dizzier!

What d'ya know?! We even spotted a Cheshire cat grinning with all its might, as it pranced along the vibrant wall.

On this golden afternoon, we were staying true to our dizzy nature, as we were frolicking, spinning and whirling about in our collection of dresses. A fabulous dress is a must-have for any female to feel extra-feminine. Whether you're twirling about in a free-flowing frock, strutting in a sleek sexy sheath, or basking in a sweet summer sundress, dresses give every woman that wonderful "wow" factor.

Purse: 1960s Betty Draper, $12

We are completely smitten with the cascading pleats, as well as the darling tie collar on our 1960s
"Lemon Rind" dress.

Lemon rind, m $16

The "world is your oyster" when you pair this dress with fanciful 1940s "Coro" clip ons. The textured gold tone shell and luminous faux pearl are a dreamy combination. These beauties perfectly compliment any splendid summer sheath!
Earrings, $10

Planning a picnic? Biking to the beach? Grab some delectable morsels, a good book, your favourite sun hat, and throw on our "Beachy Keen" dress and you are set. We just adore the imperfect stripes, the way the sleeves hug the shoulders, and the subtle ruffle at the bottom of this number!

Beachy Keen, s/m $15

80s earrings, $3

Maxi dresses are mega-marvelous! This dress has floated in and out of style since the 1940s. Today, they've become evermore popular due to their versatility. Dress up with statement jewellery and heels to give that look of casual sophistication perfect for a summer bash or even at the office. Or dress down with sandals or flip flops and adorn your arms with bangles for a cool and comfortable beach outfit. We are head-over-heels for the exotic floral print on our "Little Crocodile's Gently Smiling Jaws" maxi dress.

Little Crocodile's Gently Smiling Jaws, s/m $13; Purse: I'm Hooked on You, $8

Petite? Curvy? Long? Lanky? You don't have to be a runway model to pull off this look. Part of the maxi dress fun is that with the right accessories and styling, this outfit can work for all shapes and sizes.

Speaking of accessory adornment, we must take a moment to exalt the earrings that accent this exceptional dress. This precious pair is named "Papillon" and made in 1988 for Avon's high-end jewelry line (signed Kenneth Jay Lane). Each earring showcases a darling scalloped butterfly wing, with pastel peach enamel and clear rhinestones. How beautifully brilliant!

Earrings, $10

Mini dresses are also magnificent! They showcase those glorious gams and are super for the summery sunshine. Our perky "Flower Power" dress is wild with a white floral print.

Flower Power, m $13; Purse: Black Dahlia, $10; Hat: Queen of Spades, $12

We have some major sole love for these 1960's sling-backs Aren't they just adorable with their raindrop cut-outs? Pair these puppies with a favourite dress and you're ready to hit the town in style!

Shoes: White Rabbit is on Time size 8, $6

Throw your cares to the wind in this "Alice goes to Woodstock" dress, while you relax at a festival or get groovy at an outdoor concert. The bohemian detailing on this maxi is bodacious!
